- Dr AM Obote made this speech in 1984 in Gulu when the then President of Zambia Dr Kenneth Kaunda visited Uganda on a state visit and to participate in celebrating the Uganda Independence day. On This day, he named that ground on which the function was held, 'Kaunda Ground'.

He was a good speaker, that voice and the way he speaks would make me support UPC.

Am learning Social Studies Uganda
Who is the best president of Uganda if not OBOTE en who will come and deliver us from this volcanicity think twice before you answer.
from the way Obote spoke, it looked like there was peace in the country but there was no peace, the country was embroiled in civil war by guerrilla rebels led by yoweri museveni against the government. Though Obote mentioned Kaunda's visit as a state visit, it was more than that, Obote was courting Kaunda for military aid/support against the advancing rebels.
That's the time my father Mugwere micheal
This is how Kaunda ground got it Name.

I uploaded it a few weeks back. Please look for it in this channel
He said its a national ceremony not a rally but he was busy singing upc
it was 84, election was coming up, there were conflicts going on in some western parts of the country, so it is understandable he had to let his party known.
It would be good if you listen again. He said this is a political rally but not a seminar.
a popular leader doesn't have so many soldiers around or talk behind glass and security is controlled by police
A Pan-African like Dr Milton deserve to be both the king of Buganda and president combined
Truly i greatly appreciate his deed
s
The king of Buganda can only be a muganda period
🤣😂but why want to disturb baganda with such a statement
Your comment is not only ridiculous it's stupid. You forget Obote did not believe in hereditary rights and he abolished the monarchy to establish a Republic why would he then be a monarch. Ridiculous!
There is not need for tribal kings and queens in Uganda. We need one King and one queen for all Ugandans but if we cannot get that, then we better have only president.
NUP must learn from this... everywhere is not a NUP song
WAO!
are they translating to LUO?

Yes
Yes obote even in the north couldn't speak luo
YES PRESIDENT WAS SPEAKING IN ENGLISH N THEY TRANSLATE IN OUR LUO💖💖💖💖🙏
The translator speaks Dholuo😂😍
it's Lang'o or Acholi a subdialect of the River Lake Nilotes. Luos being one of them!
That's a Luo dialect called 'Leb Lango'. It's spoken by a tribe in Uganda called Lango.
Kawenkene
Kaunda Grown. Actually that was the day the ground was named 'KAUNDA GROUN'
Ongwen Laodog, this guy isn't asking where the speech was made, rather he is making insulting remarks against Obote. It's a common derogatory remarks always used by some Baganda against Obote. It's not a kind word, it's not Kan Kwene like you have interpreted it.
Hahahahaha😂😂😂😂
Kawenkene
We need the truth what exactly happened in 1966
Read many books written by some Ugandans who love the country with an open eye, then you will find exactly what happened in 1966 and why. But if you are being told by some of the past policians, then take care. They are not afraid to lie.
Why did he keep taking off those glasses hehehe
Hahaha 😅😅😅 beats me too
He was simply spicing his speech...he ws a unique man, a man of style.
Style maybe he wasn’t that comfortable
Style of delivering a message.
Happy independent 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🙏
